PCT2017 On our way

The time has come. We’ve packed and repacked. We’ve reduced our weights significantly under last year’s trek. Karen will be starting out with 30 pounds and Pat will be at 44 pounds. Some of this comes from new, lighter equipment; other reductions in what we think we need and a significant reduction from not needing to carry as much water.

We’ve been watching the weather closely. Ten days ago the Northwest was in a heat wave. We repacked replacing long pants with shorts. Now the weather is more typical for the area, so we are taking warmer clothing and will make the decision what to pack on Friday.

The tracker link is up and working. I will hide all but the current track before we start the hike. We’ll be taking I10 to I5 and then North to Tacoma. We will stop in Red Bluff Tuesday night.
