Compressed-Clothing

Our clothes in compression bags to make space in our packs. We each have two pair of shoes. Karen has Keen mid high hiking shoes for maximum ankle support. Her camp/water crossing shoes are also Keen. Pat has Merrill hiking shoes and camp/water crossing shoes. Our rain gear is pictured here as well.

  • Shorts- We each have two pair of shorts. One pair for hiking in and one pair for town and/or camp clothing. We each have one pair of long pants for colder days and/or evenings.
  • T-shirts- We each have two t-shirts. Both are for hiking, we can rotate and hand wash every couple of days. We will do laundry in towns when we resupply.
  • Thermals- Lightweight micro fiber thermal tops for both of us. Karen has a pair of long underwear as well made of the same material. Pat has an older pair, not as light weight, but effective.
  • Hoodie- Lightweight material, long sleeves for cooler weather.
  • Gloves- We both have a pair of biking gloves we hike in. No fingers, padded palms for good grips and protection if we fall. We each have a pair of gloves for cold weather as well.
  • Shoes with inserts- Karen’s shoes are Keen’s with Orange Superfeet insoles. She picked the orange because they are designed for a high arch and extra cushion for high impact. Pat picked a comparable pair in another brand for medium arch and high impact cushioning. (Superfeet did not have his medium arch/high impact combination) We have shipped ourselves new inserts half way through the hike.
  • Socks- We both have 4 pair of injinji sock liners with toes for blister protection and 4 pair of Darn Tuff socks. Our feet have been our number one concern for preventative maintenance. We will change socks if our feet get wet from river crossings and/or rain.
  • Rain Gear- Karen has a lightweight rain jacket as well as pants. Pat only has a jacket. He will use his long pants for rainy days.
  • Hats- We each have a hat for shading our eyes and head and a wool beanie for cooler days and nights. We also have a buff that can be used as head protection. We both have a “Cool Tie” that we can wet down to wear around our neck on the hotter days. Karen does not do well in temperatures over 90 degrees without one.
