What does Eikooz mean? Eikooz was one of Karen’s most loved Irish Setters. His name was Zookie, The site’s name is simply his name, backwards.
Zookie was a rescue that came to us by chance. Originally his name was Lucky and was given up by the owners. Actually they wanted to “sell” the dog to rescue. But that is not how the rescue program worked. However, friends of ours wanted a second dog and offered to pay the price if we could foster him for 6 months while they were remodeling their home. Of course we said we would. Our friends actually named him after a Far Side cartoon.
So that is how Zookie, AKA Lucky came to live with us. Well the remodel took longer than expected, over a year. By then a second dog wasn’t a good idea because of the health of the first dog. It didn’t matter anyway, because Karen fell in love with Zookie and he became “Number One”. (Number One is a whole story in itself, for a later time).
