Ballentine Trail- March 6, 2016

For decades, I’ve driven past this trailhead on the way to Payson, but never stopped. But on this day, Karen and I adventured into the unknown. Our first challenge was to find the start of the trail. We choose to take the Southern route, and after some trail blazing we found the trail. once we made it to the junction, the trail was easy to follow, that is until we left the cabin and started home. Without the GPS, we would have never found the loop trail home. As you can see on the GPS track, we got a bit off track after we left the cabin. We never really found the trail to the corral, just followed what the GPS told us.

We finally made it back to the truck, but not much before sunset. This is a great training hike for a full pack, but would be more fun hiking with a day pack.
